AVNAH Fashion Exhibition Inc. is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to providing underserved youth with a creative learning environment to develop trade skills and artistic abilities that can lead to future careers in fashion and the arts.

We bridge the gap of art, fashion and education through youth educational sewing classes, creative sewing workshops, trade skill development and immersive fashion exhibitions to inspire skill and self-expression. Through workshops, sewing classes, and exhibitions, we empower youth to develop real trade skills, express their individuality, and explore career paths in design and the creative industries. Our programs help youth build confidence, discipline, and purpose while offering a positive and inspiring space that keeps them engaged, focused, and driven toward a brighter future.

Why we created this organization

We understand the importance of positive youth and community impact.

As a child growing up in a small town and the toughest neighborhoods, I faced the reality of limited access to programs and positive influences that could have supported my development and nurtured my potential. My mother was my greatest source of strength and inspiration, doing everything she could to be the role model I needed. However, without community programs that offered mentorship, skill-building, and creative outlets, my growth as a young girl was delayed in many ways.

Those early experiences shaped my passion for creating opportunities for today’s youth—especially those growing up in underserved communities similar to my own. As I began to embrace my purpose, I started mentoring and volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club, teaching sewing classes at local churches, and serving as a motivational speaker at high schools. I also participated in and organized fashion shows to raise scholarship funds for students seeking to further their education.

Through these initiatives, I have witnessed firsthand the power of mentorship and creativity in transforming lives. When young people see someone from their own community investing in their growth, it reinforces their belief that they, too, can achieve greatness. This work is not only rewarding to me personally—it represents a commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities by empowering youth with confidence, purpose, and opportunity.

My goal is to expand these efforts into a structured program that continues to inspire, educate, and equip young people with the tools they need to succeed. Through this organization, I hope to reach more youth, provide consistent mentorship opportunities, and offer creative programs that foster leadership, self-expression, and long-term success.

Why we cater to the youth

Young people are the foundation of any community’s future. However, many youths today face difficult circumstances that put them at risk—whether due to poverty, unstable homes, lack of access to education, or exposure to violence and negative influences. Without proper support, these challenges can lead to destructive choices, school dropouts, or involvement in crime. This is why positive at-risk youth programs are so important. They provide the structure, mentorship, and opportunities that help young people realize their full potential and become tomorrow’s leaders.

Classes, Workshops, and Our Creative Vision

AVNAH Fashion Exhibition Inc. emphasizes art, fashion, education, and skill development as the foundation of its mission. Through immersive fashion exhibitions, workshops, sewing education, and mentorship programs, youth are introduced to practical skills such as garment construction, design, and creative problem-solving. These experiences not only spark imagination but also equip young people with the tools to pursue careers as fashion designers, entrepreneurial ventures, or lifelong creative passions. For at-risk youth, the program offers a safe and structured environment where they can build confidence, discipline, and a sense of accomplishment. All youth 13 and up are welcome to join our classes and workshops. Youth under the age of 13 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Gala will feature an elegant showcase of mannequins dressed in couture garments created by both emerging and established fashion designers, as well as select celebrity archive pieces. Styled in the spirit of a Met Gala display, the exhibition highlights fashion as both an art and a form of cultural expression, allowing visitors to experience the craftsmanship, creativity, and history behind each design. Each mannequin serves not only as a visual centerpiece but as an educational tool, accompanied by information about the designer, construction techniques, and cultural significance of the garment.

Designed to be both inspiring and educational, this immersive fashion exhibition offers the public an opportunity to appreciate fashion in a museum-style setting while also learning about design, textile work, and garment construction. By bringing these displays to venues, colleges, museums, and community institutions, AVNAH Fashion Exhibition Inc. bridges the gap between art and trade, providing students and the public a deeper understanding of the creative and professional world of fashion.

At each AVNAH Fashion Exhibition Inc. Gala, guests will be invited to support our nonprofit mission through on-site donations. Donation stations will be set up throughout the exhibition space, including secure collection boxes and QR codes that link directly to our online giving platform. This allows attendees to contribute in the way that is most convenient for them. All QR code donations will receive a tax receipt via email.

Donations collected during the exhibitions will go directly toward funding our educational programs, sewing education, sewing workshops, and skill-building opportunities for youth. Every contribution helps provide essential resources such as sewing machines, fabric, notions, supplies, and instructor support, while also covering exhibition needs like mannequins, displays, and layouts.

In many underserved communities, youth lack access to safe, constructive environments that foster creativity, trade skills, and career exploration. Without such opportunities, they are more vulnerable to social and economic challenges. Fashion and design are powerful tools of self-expression that can also provide sustainable career pathways. AVNAH Fashion Exhibition Inc. directly addresses these challenges by:

• Providing a safe, supportive space for youth.

• Teaching essential trade skills, including sewing education, design, and 3D printing.

• Offering mentorship from established fashion designers.

All designers will participate in a Q&A Panel, with floor-standing signs beside their exhibit displays featuring their photo, website, and company bio. This exhibit aims to educate viewers with collections that influence art and fashion, highlighting designers known for their skilled craftsmanship and intricate designs that reflect years of experience in the fashion industry. It serves to bridge the gap by offering designers a curated showcase to gain sales for their brands while providing viewers with a tangible perspective on the evolution of fashion design, craftsmanship, and innovation.

This exhibit showcases established and emerging fashion designers from around the world. Our exhibition displays creative designs for buyers, media, industry professionals, and the public. Founded by fashion designer Avnah Long, the event aims to:

• Highlight fashion designers, their artistry, and the thought process behind each piece to spark ideas and innovation.

• Increase visibility and brand awareness for up and coming and established designers.
